KLARA
Functional Beverage Positioning · Naming · Launch Strategy
/ Overview
A new functional beverage was being developed for a market already crowded with similar wellness claims, visual codes and product promises.
The assignment focused on five issues affecting differentiation and launch readiness: Category Commoditisation, Unclear Product Positioning, Low Brand Distinctiveness, Low Perceived Value and Launch Readiness Gap.
WOM.digital developed the strategic and creative foundations of the product across category positioning, naming, verbal identity, packaging direction and launch concept.
The work extended into scenography and guest experience, creating a more coherent relationship between the product, its visual presence and the way people would encounter the brand at launch.

FIVE COMMERCIAL ISSUES
01 · CATEGORY COMMODITISATION
Functional beverages increasingly compete through similar ingredients, wellness claims and category codes, making new products difficult to distinguish before trial.
Applied: Category Strategy · Competitive Analysis · Category Code Analysis · Brand Distinctiveness Strategy
The category review identified a more differentiated territory around premium wellness, functional credibility and longevity.
02 · UNCLEAR PRODUCT POSITIONING
The product had functional benefits and a broader longevity ambition, but these had not yet been organised into a clear proposition for the market.
Applied: Product Positioning · Value Proposition Strategy · Benefit Architecture · Audience Positioning · Product Concept Direction
The proposition established a clearer relationship between functional benefit, daily use and premium wellness positioning.
03 · LOW BRAND DISTINCTIVENESS
Generic wellness naming and familiar verbal codes would have made the product harder to remember and easier to confuse with adjacent brands.
Applied: Naming Strategy · Verbal Identity · Tone of Voice · Brand Vocabulary Development · Language Strategy
The naming and verbal system created a more ownable identity with stronger recognition across product and communication touchpoints.
04 · LOW PERCEIVED VALUE
Functional benefits alone were not enough to support a premium position. Packaging, language and visual codes also had to communicate credibility, quality and category relevance.
Applied: Premiumization Strategy · Packaging Strategy · Visual Positioning · Scientific Credibility Strategy · Pack Hierarchy
The design direction connected functional authority with a stronger premium presentation across the physical product.
05 · LAUNCH READINESS GAP
Naming, packaging and product benefits had to operate as one coherent system when the product entered physical, event and discovery environments.
Applied: Launch Experience Strategy · Scenography Concept · Guest Experience Mapping · Product Discovery Design · Physical Touchpoint Strategy
The launch system extended the brand into spatial presentation and guest interaction, ensuring that the proposition remained coherent beyond the pack.
