industrial cleaning equipment for gyms non branded search visibility B2B lead generation product market fit vertical market development industrial product demand generation

/ Overview

A mature industrial product had proven relevance in CrossFit facilities, but had no dedicated market position, buyer language or search visibility for the fitness sector.

The review focused on five issues: Unprioritized Vertical Opportunity, Buyer Language Mismatch, Generic Industrial Positioning, Low Product Recall and Low Non Branded Visibility.

WOM.digital developed Boxmaster as a dedicated commercial proposition for gyms and CrossFit facilities, connecting product capabilities with the hygiene, flooring and operating requirements of that market.

The work combined vertical market positioning, category creation, buyer language, B2B search strategy, content architecture and conversion paths.

The result included a #1 organic Google result for a targeted CrossFit cleaning query, a featured snippet and reported growth from 3 to 150 monthly leads, with 4,800% ROI.

[ Challenges/Solutions ]

FIVE COMMERCIAL ISSUES

01 · UNPRIORITIZED VERTICAL OPPORTUNITY
The machine already had a strong operational fit with CrossFit facilities, particularly for rubber flooring, magnesite build up and intensive daily cleaning. That application had not yet been developed as a distinct commercial opportunity within the wider Rotowash range.

Applied: Vertical Market Segmentation · Microvertical Strategy · Use Case Positioning · Category Positioning
CrossFit was developed as a dedicated vertical, with the product offer organised around the operating conditions and maintenance requirements specific to gyms.

02 · BUYER LANGUAGE MISMATCH
Gym operators were searching and evaluating cleaning solutions through the language of their own environment, not through industrial equipment terminology or Rotowash model codes.

Applied: Buyer Insight Research · Voice of Customer Research · Community Positioning
Research mapped the vocabulary, maintenance issues and decision criteria used inside the CrossFit market, including rubber flooring, magnesite, grip, safety and intensive use.

03 · GENERIC INDUSTRIAL POSITIONING
The existing product description explained the machine as part of an industrial cleaning range but did not establish a specific reason for a CrossFit operator to choose it.

Applied: Product Positioning · Value Proposition Design
The product proposition was developed around the requirements of CrossFit facilities, linking existing machine performance to the flooring, residue and cleaning conditions encountered in that environment.

04 · LOW PRODUCT RECALL
A technical model code gave gym owners little to remember, search for or recommend independently from the wider Rotowash catalogue.

Applied: Product Naming Strategy · Product Brand Architecture · Visual Positioning / Brand Identity
Boxmaster created a dedicated product identity within the Rotowash portfolio. The name came directly from CrossFit terminology, where the gym itself is commonly called the box.

05 · LOW NON BRANDED VISIBILITY
Prospective buyers were searching for cleaning problems and applications rather than for Rotowash by name. Those high intent searches were not connecting the CrossFit market with the product.

Applied: Search Demand Research · Search Intent Mapping · B2B SEO Strategy · Organic Demand Capture · Content Architecture · Problem Led Content Strategy · Landing Page Strategy · Search Positioning · SERP Optimisation
Search demand around CrossFit cleaning, rubber flooring and magnesite informed the dedicated content structure and product page.

The project reached the #1 organic Google result for a targeted CrossFit cleaning query and earned a featured snippet without paid placement.
