Marconi and Federico Faggin in Vicenza, WOM.digital with PoloMarconi at the Italy USA Friendship Festival
At PoloMarconi.IT' s invitation, WOM.digital joined the Italy USA Friendship Festival in Vicenza, where the Basilica Palladiana hosted Guglielmo Marconi’s Type 2469 antenna from the Elettra. Two days later, Federico Faggin spoke to a sold out audience in the same hall.
In 1549, Andrea Palladio described the Basilica as a “place for everyone, for meeting and civic life.”
Five centuries later, the same hall hosted two chapters in the history of global communication.
From 12 to 14 September, PoloMarconi presented the Type 2469 antenna built in 1931 and used by Guglielmo Marconi aboard the Elettra. WOM.digital attended at PoloMarconi’s invitation. We support the company on international positioning and communications, where its engineering history, current RF expertise and institutional experience all contribute to the way the business is understood in international markets.
On 14 September, the story moved from radio engineering to microelectronics. Federico Faggin, born in Vicenza, leader of the Intel 4004 design, founder of Zilog and co founder of Synaptics, returned to the Basilica Palladiana for a sold out public conversation and received the first Italia America Festival award.
CORPORATE HERITAGE FOR INDUSTRIAL COMPANIES

At the Festival, PoloMarconi’s connection with Guglielmo Marconi was represented by an engineering artefact with a documented use aboard the Elettra. The Type 2469 antenna placed company heritage beside present day RF communications, defence, aerospace and mission critical applications.
FEDERICO FAGGIN, VICENZA AND SILICON VALLEY
Federico Faggin’s return to Vicenza added another technology history with international reach.
Faggin led the design of the Intel 4004, the first commercial single chip microprocessor, later founded Zilog and co founded Synaptics. He was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 1996 and received the US National Medal of Technology and Innovation in 2009.
For WOM.digital, the weekend brought together subjects central to our industrial work: engineering heritage, recognised inventors, proprietary technology, institutional credibility and international positioning.
